When we think about it, everything we do seems dependent upon health to accomplish it. Whether it's relating to our families, jobs, happiness or even life itself.
Being healthy is something we all want, but rarely take the proper action to achieve. How much is your health worth? A price of a holiday, Surely our health is priceless?
The Brain
It's the most important & complex part of our body. The control centre for everything we do. It sends & receives messages to communicate with the rest of the body.
The Body & Spine
The body is the vehicle in which we live. It enables us to go and do what we want in life. The spine is a flexible set of bones which protects the spinal cord and enables the messages to travel, to and from the brain.
The Nerves
All along the spine, nerves exit. Nerves provide information about the state of the body. The brain uses these impulses to provide instant feedback and ensure proper function of the body. Therefore proper communication is essential for overall health.
These nerves exit all along our spine between the vertebrae. When these vertebrae are in proper alignment, the electric impulses can freely go back and forth from our brain and body, allowing all our body parts to function normally. The nervous system is not inhibited in any way and is at ease.
Many things, such as daily trauma or injuries affect the spine causing misalignments of the vertebrae. Although this is very subtle, it puts stress upon and irritates the nerves. It can have a significant affect on the normal functioning of the nervous system, causing parts of the body to malfunction. These misalignments are termed "subluxations" and this is what the treatment seeks to repair. By specific, gentle adjusting of the vertebrae the pressure on the nerves can be relieved, restoring proper alignment of the spine. The adjustment enables the body to heal. The leak is fixed. The wiring is fixed. Information is flowing again.
Physical Causes of Subluxation
Any physical activity may lead to subluxation. Including knocks, falls, car accidents, sports injuries, bending twisting lifting and even the birth process itself.
Sedentary or passive activities such as being seated at a desk, driving or working in an awkward position can also cause subluxations. The onset is more insidious but the effects are just as devastating.
Mental-Emotional Causes of Subluxation
Mental stresses that you do not recover from may cause subluxations that persist in your body. As a simple example, depressed people tend to look down which stresses the spine. Hence we may have a 'body language' that gives away our mental state. We even have language to reflect this such as "He has the weight of the world on his shoulders","my boss is getting on my back" or "my spouse is a pain in the neck".
Chemical Causes of Subluxation
When the body cannot properly deal with its chemical load it may subluxate. Exposure to Dusts, Fumes, liquids, smog, and any chemicals can cause stress on the body. We must not forget that all Foods and Drugs (prescription or not) are chemicals that interact with our bodies and may cause subluxations.
Inborn within each of us is an Innate Intelligence capable of governing our body for a lifetime. In a human being, it is the Innate Intelligence that tells a new-born baby how many times its heart should beat each minute; how to ingest and digest nutrients and eliminate the waste; how to develop and utilise white blood cells to fight infections; how to communicate its need for outside assistance. No one has to teach an infant these things.
It is only necessary for the innate intelligence to express itself, which it must do through the nervous system. The function of the spinal specialist is to maintain your body free of interference. Vertebral subluxations result in an interference with the transmission of this inborn intelligence; Spinal specialists remove this interference through vertebral adjustments.
When the Vertebrae are correctly aligned normal movement provides nutrients for the discs (which have no circulatory system of their own). The nerves are healthy and correctly serve the various organs and muscles of the body.
